Kind of like “Cheers” without Sam and Norm

I stagger on sunsets
swaying on sonnets and cheap wine
singing oldies to karaoke
in the neighborhood bar
from time to time

the barstools are worn
taped to hold the rips
and beers here cost two dollars
happy hour starts at six

it’s lasting friendships found
a place to make me laugh
and closing time comes
when someone yells
“there’s time for one more round”

just ordinary people
from cops to CPA’s
singing oldies to karaoke
where everybody knows your name
